BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the ruling Awami Leauge government often talks about huge development in the country. Actually, they are misleading people about the country\u2019s real condition by talking about development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fakhrul Islam said this while speaking at a press conference at BNP Chairperson\u2019s Gulshan office on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said that they (govt) are calling themselves a role model of development. But UNDP\u2019s Human Development Index published yesterday (Monday) showed Bangladesh in the fifth position in South Asia. It’s even below Bhutan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fakhrul said, So, it can be understood whatever is said about our development is in fact an attempt of the government to confuse people and thus stay in power by force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He alleged that the government has destroyed the spirit of the Liberation War in all the sectors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
They\u2019ve ruined the independence of the judiciary through politicization and turned the economy into a plundering one, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The AL government has made parliament a completely useless one and shattered the electoral system, he said, ‘As a result of which you\u2019ve seen that prominent citizens are saying it\u2019s not possible for the current Election Commission to hold free and fair elections.’<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fakhrul said their party has taken elaborate programs to mark the golden jubilee of independence throughout the year in 2021 with only a goal to restore the spirit of the Liberation War and democracy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We see Ziaur Rahman, the proclaimer of independence is insulted. Those who were in the frontline of the Liberation War are also being belittled, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
‘Let\u2019s celebrate the golden jubilee of independence with the utmost dignity and establish the honour of those who were involved in the Liberation War and restore democracy.’<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fakhrul Islam said that we are observing with sorrow that the independence and sovereignty of the country are now at stake. Our citizens are being killed along the border in firing by Indian border guards, he added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
